Swimming Fun!

Of course it's not summer without some swim time.  With all the heat this summer, we took many opportunities to cool down in the pool.  Addison was pretty leery of the water in the beginning of the summer.  I would have to hold her and she didn't seem to enjoy going in too far.  But in no time she was swimming on her own (with a life jacket of course) and jumping off the diving board all by herself.  I think she's going to be a fish!

Swimming suit and sunglasses...check!

Of course the water from the pool gets dumped out onto the rocks, where else would it go?

She insisted I get in with her and I actually fit!

Swimming at my Dad's.

The crab floaty, she liked this for about 1 minute.

We went to my cousin Anne's for a pool party.

Addison started swimming on her own!

We went to the Splash Pad in O'Fallon.  This is about as close as she got to the water.  We were there for over an hour and she never warmed up to it.  I had planned on going back with other kids thinking that would help, but never made it back unfortunately.

We went to the beach at Rend Lake.  Just catching some rays.

Playin' in the sand.

We already miss the warm swimming weather, but we are looking forward to fun in the snow.  Here's hoping we get some this year!

Naked Addison!

For some reason Addison went through a little phase where it was hard to get her to keep her clothes on!  It started before we began potty training but got worse after.  She would come out of her room with nothing but a diaper or underwear on just because she felt like it.

Here she took everything off and then found some black socks that she had to pull ALL the way up.
She's checking herself out in the mirror.

Snuck off to the play set with nothing but a diaper and shoes.
At least she remembered her shoes!

I went to check on her napping and she had stripped completely naked - diaper and all.

I think this one was after church.
Addison wanted to go play but I told her she had to take her dress off first. I should have given her complete instructions - my fault.

She was watching Doug work outside and had to get comfortable by taking off her shorts and getting a pillow to stand on.

Addison heard Doug taking the trash down and I was in the middle of changing her. She put her shoes on quickly and grabbed her shirt and ran after Doug. There was no stopping her!

Life with a 2 year old is definitely entertaining.  We've had many laughs over this phase!

Family and Friends Gatherings

This summer our weekends were busy gathering with family and friends.

In May we had an Emig family reunion at a park.

Anna taking Addison down the slide and Aaron and Maci helping out.

Uncle Bruce and Addison catching part of a ball game.

The little ones are always the center of attention!

We had a campfire night at Doug's parents' house.

Addison checking out the frogs the kids caught.

Enjoying a snack with Abby and Uncle Bruce, her best buddies.

Everyone around the campfire.

Just a little ice cream and beer to wash it down ;-)

Do you think she's comfortable?

Memorial weekend we had a few friends over for a BBQ.

The girls enjoyed the pool even though it was a little small!

Dylan taking all the kids on a Ranger ride.

Time to feed the fish!

Over the Fourth, we went to a friend's house for a pool party.

Addison had to think long and hard about jumping off the diving board.

But she did end up doing it!

Over and over and over again!

Getting ready for the fireworks - the best show in the county I think!

We took in a Grizzly's game with my Dad and company.

Zoe checking out Addison's flower.

Big smooch!

And now a headlock...I mean HUG!

Jack and Addison taking in the game.

Crazy kids!

They had a huge playset there.  It was a little nerve-racking letting her up there all by herself with all those kids, but I did it and she loved it.

Lovin' the slide.

Then she wanted to tackle this big slide.  It still gives me a heart attack just looking at the picture!
Conner was enlisted to help her on this one.

Down she comes.

Cuties!

In August we had the Vasquez family reunion.  It was HOT as usual.

Collin was taking a nap in front of the fan and Addison felt the need to sit and watch him.

She just looks so old here, not my little toddler any longer!

The bounce house was a hit.

It took her all day, but she finally took a ride on the train.

We went to Natalie's for Adam and Alex's birthday.

Brotherly love!

Anna and Addison under their tent.

Addison loves Ring Around the Rosey.  Aaron got roped into it this time.

And another birthday gathering for my Dad.

The grandkids and Papa Mike.

Happy Birthday!

We had a very full summer as usual but we love spending time with family and friends.  We wouldn't have it any other way!
